funniest stuff to happen OTJ

i have a pretty long list of funny stuff that has happened to us while on the job

my favorite is probably the dissapearing Double wide

I went on a systems check / winterization in Leeds NY it was a Double wide on private land , the older lady had given her boy a spot to put his double wide on for him and his new bride. the unit had been rekeyed and stickered up and she wasnt adverse to me doing what i had to do as i elaborated it would get ruined over the winter if i didnt. so as i worked she filled me in on the trifling woman poor JT had married and how she had run off with another man etc etc i finished up the wint , gave her a hand " mending" a door real quick at her adjacent farmhouse( she looked about 90 ) had a cup of coffee and on my merry way

fast forward to the following spring around late mayish im sent up for a conditions report

NO DOUBLE WIDE instead there is a shed / barn sitting on the concrete pad the house was just gone i keep a copy of pics in my laptop so i reviewed the location and i was right on target

i called the national and they had no answer either

Mobile homes and RV/Campers are stolen much more than you think. Why? Because many times they are stuck out in rural areas never to be moved again, so no one will ever know if they are stolen or not. Hunting and fishing cabins, meth labs, homes, all sorts of reasons.

Did a trashout on a single gal's house. Full of crap. Place had 50 cyds of clothes alone. Guys were cleaning out the bedroom and came across a dresser full of "motorized equiment". Last load is packed in and ready to go by 5 p.m. She rolls up and walks along the drive where the trailer and guys are and says in a matter of fact tone, "I'm not leaving here until I get my dildos and my sex toys. You all know what I am talking about, so lets have it." Yes, it is a true story.

Hilarious story.

Professionals are people who can do their job when they don't feel like it.
Amateurs are people that can't do their job even when they do feel like it.

re

Not really an OTJ but I knew a guy that found an 18" "toy" in a parking lot so he stuck it (I wouldn't have touched it) into the grill of his buddies truck. Guy drove around with it for like 3 days before he noticed.

Sounds like some thing I'd do if I had gloves.

The best part was how he found out, he had just got back from driving to some town like an hour away and he was complaining about his mileage. And my buddy goes up to the front of his truck and says "well here is your problem this is causing a bunch of drag"
