With preservation work (direct work), lots of spikes and I like it that way. To quote Steve Jessup, "I got stuff to do."
If we took more work from nationals it would level out but then I'd spend too much time chasing money.
June is the month when the big ticket grass cuts come in. Nobody has been mowing, the neighbors complain, the city threatens, the broker panics and we get the call-voila! We bill accordingly to do an initial knock down and then add it to our biweekly list.
Currently we're backed up with cabinet and furniture builds in our shop so no time for $25 mows and $15 cyd debris removals.

It is slow right now for some areas. Others seem to be booming. We have been getting a ton of GC work on the east coast line of Florida, but nowhere else really in the state. And a bit of REO. A LOT of PR's as well. We are doing a lot of residential remodeling and renovations at the moment so as GTX said, do not really have time to mess with any low paying companies at the moment.

We've had our ups and downs, but it hasn't been as slow as in the past. I am constantly get initial mows now, and I constantly decline them with a note of my prices. I get some, but many probably get assigned to someone who enjoys the $20 cut.

I cannot understand how people can do $20 cuts. It is a loss every time. I had someone who thought we were a small P&P company offer us cuts starting at $15! I had to tell them we are repairs, estimate and rehab with some REO and I wouldn't send ANYONE out to cut a yard for $15. Hell, I wouldn't even give a highschool kid trying to make a little extra money $15 to cut a yard. These people are crazy.
