Just getting started....

Hello everyone,

I am just getting started in this new adventure of P&P. I am hoping some of you can give me some decent guidance as far as bid list companies looking for us. I am also hoping to get anyones updated pricing. I want to be fair at charging, but yet make income in order to expand someday. I have a partner who knows the work and done it all, but has no clue otherwise because he was being underpaid and screwed over by his last employer. I live in a town and area that it seems there are only a couple businesses to do the job. I know the only company help even travels as much as three hours away to do jobs. My goal is to get up and going making my partner a coordinator at some point and expanding all around me and abroad. My biggest concern is pricing, because I know the last job my competitor priced was 12k for a single home. Does that sound accurate? It was an hour away, but still seems a bit high to me. Is it best to do a price breakdown for them, or just flat rate the total job? I believe the other company charges them for 6 employees wages and only uses 2 to do the work. Any help guidance, pricing, tips, links, companies to sign up with etc., will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time guys and have a great day.

Welcome to PT. The industry has slowed significantly in the last few years but you can find plenty of help with a few hours and some coffee reading thru many of the older threads. REO/Preservation is not for the faint of heart, just an fyi.

The only tip I can give you is there are tons of Burlington contractors making no money. Hard to make any when the highest priced landfill in Iowa resides there.

Good luck.
