Counting Debris 101

Based on the responses I've got back from multiple regional/national desk jockeys over the years, accurately counting debris is an extremely difficult skill to master for some.

Case in point: November 2017, I submit an estimate to a national for 110CY of debris/personal property removal. My estimate is accompanied by 231 photos supporting my count. That national sends me an email back saying that my pictures only support 50CY, and they will adjust my estimate accordingly. I inform them to simply send my estimate through the shredder, along with all of my contact info. December 2018, A different national contacts me about removing debris at the same address. After negotiating pricing and travel fees, I email them the same 231 photos from a year ago and ask them to give me their estimate of debris present. 7 Minutes later I get an email back saying that it looks like 125CY, but could be more - I responded with a quick "I think you're right".

Obviously I think my count is the most accurate one, but we'll see. Dumpsters are scheduled to be delivered next Tuesday. . .

Iíve already told you more than I know.

I wouldn't be able to let it go. I would respond to the 50cyd email with copies of the approved 125 cyd bid AND the payment check with a subject line that simply says "this is why you suck".

Try the below disclaimer on your debris bids. Nationals love it...

" Debris to be removed to offsite location and or held in dumpsters until payment is received. Should any discrepancy on the amount proposed and removed arise, the corresponding amount of cubic yards will be returned to the property so that the amount reimbursed equals to that actually removed and photographically documented."

The Nationals are off they are ripping you off and paying less for debris so they can bid less to receive the Govt. Contracts. The industry is a scam. PM me for details
