Zoning violation

I live in a residential area, and recently got a notice that I am in violation for running a business out of my house. All we do is this, and I'm confused how this is running a business from my home? Maybe a misunderstanding?

unless you have "others" that work for you all you need to do is inform whomever sent you the notice that you are an "independent contractor". I had the same issue at a place we lived before. It happened because we took "stuff" home from a trashout, not having enough time to go to the dump at the end of the day.
