Adding fuel to the SG flames

Let me provide a bit of perspective as a former SG employee. To me, there's a lot wrong with the company that warrants the bashing on this site. Just from what I observed from my short time there it was easy to see it wasn't the place for me (as their employee,) and I would strongly urge caution to anyone thinking about joining them and accepting their work...
  • Micro-management - do the work, but just be sure to do it their way. They like to say it's results-oriented, but they're very much focused on the process that achieves the result. As an employee, or as a contractor accepting their work, they'll say they trust you to do the job and then exhibit no trust whatsoever. Trust me or don't, but don't say you do to my person and then look over my shoulder with the knife ready in your hand because you don't...
  • Continuous changes to policy/procedure, as frequently as weekly. Adjusted to the new way of doing things? Great! We're changing it again...
  • Exploitation of salaried employees (the working salaried, not the decision-makers)
  • Woeful preparation for, and execution of, the acquisition of BACFSC - wouldn't be surprised if things still aren't running smoothly. If, as SG contractors, you displayed the same lack of preparation and execution in the field on WOs, I have no doubt that you would either not be retained in the SG contractor network, or if you were you'd have a very low cap and volume.
  • A constant feeling of condescension - they lecture down to seemingly EVERYBODY...

In my division, I know of one week where SG let go of four employees and another two (myself included) quit. That's six gone in one week. At the beginning of previous week there were only 50 in the whole division. A reduction of six represents a departure of 12% of division staff in just one week. That's not normal. One employee was highly productive albeit mouthy (like myself). The results of a relatively recent survey among employees shows that SG was below industry benchmarks by an average of 25.38% across all 19 measured dimensions. I've concluded that unless you're included among the inner-circle and/or have some juice, SG can be a deleterious environment to work in.

My bottom-line read on things: SG knows it's -up, but doesn't know how to, or care about, fixing the issues so long as clients' $$$ keeps coming their way...

So basically, what we all have been guessing is going on behind closed doors, is going on. Shocking!

Iíve already told you more than I know.
