SG and the free for them bids

"Per memo 1153, Safeguard will no longer provide a trip charge when work is not completed and bids are submitted. Trip charges are not a claimable HUD expense or billable to Safeguard clients. In addition, allocating the charge after receiving bid approval has made the invoice reconciliation process difficult for contractors.

Therefore, effective May 1, 2006 Safeguard will no longer reimburse contractors for trip charges when bids are submitted and no work is performed."

So we do not get paid for any time that we get a work order that is a bid. I seem to get a million of these free for them work orders. These orders are a pain to do because if I do not do them I have to pay someone to do them. Either way it costs me, either by gas or paying someone. So here is the deal. I am late on a work order that is a free bid order for them and they cancel it on me. Good you say? I know I was happy . Anyways after the order gets cancelled I then get a chargeback !!! Excuse me? What the heck are you charging back? How in the heck can you do a chargeback on something I was never ever going to get paid for? Talk about bullcrap.

The response we received from 5 Buds was they were forced to use an out of network vendor and had to cover his expenses. I believe at that moment, the marriage was irretrievably broken.

The simple solution is to do what every other reasonable business person would do...sever the relationship with them as the state of Washington has done....if everyone would start acting like a business instead of scared employees then this company would not be able to do what the "emptractors" allow them to do....

Oh yes the charge back is called steeling and wire fraud...

Im sorry but if you do not status that free order that you cannot do it as soon as it comes in, I really fault you. I have had no issues doing it that way with no chargebacks.

Status' do not work, you must call regional for reassignment. And when you ask for reassignment, they will give you all sorts of crap because the property is in your service area. They also, depending on your regional, will say they will note it in your file that you are refusing to do an order in your zone. I do not know how you get away with it idaho.

you are right I do also email coordinator, but I don't care about my file my score card are anything else they think of, im not doing this to get a gold star. I get no chargeback and 50 to 100 as a oaa to complete order if they really need me to do it

We continue to get orders... but we don't cost average on any order and we do not do any free orders. Im not saying I haven't we do reo work there is enough free trips to correct, couldn't imagine adding more free work on.

think like retail if it comes in the back door costing money it goes out the front door making money.

I always tell myself when the time comes after I cut myself a check I cant cut the biz itself a check, it is time to move on.

Im close to being its time to move on and im not even doing s**t for free. so you could have it figured out better then me.

There is a huge difference in the number of "free" work orders and bids given to Preservation contractors vs. REO contractors. As a Preservation vendor about 20% of the orders I receive are "free" orders that do not issue payment because bids were placed. If my customers were private home owners I figure I'd be doing even more free estimates than I am now.

But if your working for a homeowner you expect to get SOME of your bids back in work. With SG you almost NEVER get your free bids back, as they just turn it in to the bank and say "we don't get paid for bids"
