Complaining

I have been in the pp and construction business for the past 20 years and find it amazing that contractors on here complain about low pay and not getting paid. Why would anyone sign on to a company that pays $30 for a grass cut or $60 wet winterization. As long as these SCXXMBXX NATIONALS AND REGIONALS keep getting idiot contractors to do it they will never increase prices. If we all said no go Fxxx yourself guess what they would have no choice to re think there business model.
When any of us do private work for a client do we let the client dictate what we are going to charge NOOOO we give them a proposal and they accept it or not it is a very easy process. Yes I know there are guys that will under bid and get the job but 80% of the time that same client is calling us back to repair the **** job the hack craig lister did.

Sorry for the rant but had to get this off my chest

Yes, there is a lot of griping on this site. We're just about out of the preservation business, as far as dealing with regional/nationals. But I'll stick around and help out the new guy getting sucked into the pit of vipers, if I can.

when asking for price sheets from some of these places I was stunned that they could get anyone to take the work they had.

I also found out i was getting screwed on expected ta times :/

People who do not fully comprehend P&L and record keeping; newbs to the industry, etc is who are taking this bottom dollar price sheets and accepting the work. They go out of business after 90 days and the regional pockets a wad of the contractor's money and repeats. These are the guys that may not yet have the insurance or cleared all the hurdles to be a full time vendor for the big boys.
Probationary periods can be a money grab for the big boys and is why you see such fubar'd properties and wonder how they can get away with it.
