Bid.

So i bid 3950 for new steps and a 20ft sidewalk.. good price.. s/g came back said do it for 1250.. they are treating me with a charge back cause i refuse to do the work.. Lets see.. use my bobcat, haul away cement. 150$ permit. buy precast steps.. 800$ cement for sidewalk 370.. someone to do the work. 250-300.. yup.. i would be paying safeguard to do the work. lol.

How can they change your bids all the time.

Part that KILLS me is that you are NOT refusing to do the work! You are refusing to go BACKWARDS on your books so they can make a profit. A bid is your price to do the work, NOT a do it for our price schedule! This is how they get around contractors being considered employees BUT having to do it for their price schedule does make contractors employees. They just don't give a rip.

I had a tenant occupied property every time tenant wanted hot water they had to light pilot light and this had been happening for a week
(1) out of state compliance laws for tenant occupied properties.
(2) I go and tell them this is what price is has to be done by licensed plumber in our state and it was gas to boot. I don't want the liability on that!
(3) they come back with a price of X and that wont even cover the cost of a new water heater! they tell me that I have to do it and I tell them to go away. This was the beginning of the writing on the wall for me. Pretty soon it was the writing on a billboard in neon.
