One reason im glad im done

I have a buddy that got into this.. He went out and bought a brand new Truck, new dump and since he is just starting all new tools etc.. So new truck.. bought top of the line 52-59k? new dump 9k new tools 3k? so he is upside down already by 70-73k in dept.. HIs plan is to be the best and take his business national. I told him i left cause no money on the table.. he didn't listen.. Sent me his 1st order and he says pertty good money uh!!

775.00 to do maid and trash out of 40 yrds.. sooo lets do the math..

775-15% = 658.57$ dump fees will need to go twice with 40 yrds 168.00 x 2 336.00 so we are down to $322.57 then avg clean time is idk 4.5 hrs 3 people lets say $13.00 = 175.50 now were down to 147.07 then gas $55.00= 92.07

so all day work, bust your ass for a mear 92.00$ well i forgot to add the rush bouns of 75.00 so he made 167.07 no thank you!

To your buddy that $775 probably seemed like killer money if he was coming from an hourly office setting.
Never taking into consideration all the expenses that came with running a legit bidness.

The jerks that set those flat rates were counting on finding folks with that exact thinking to take care of these properties.
Back in 09 and 10 the flat rate in my area was less than $600. I needed work and did the math many times trying to make it work but it never did and I never signed on to going broke.
I'm not about to pay some one for the privilege of going to their property and working for the fun of it. I am not doing this for my health. Just because I give away my services like so
many did does not mean my mortgage company, my utility companies and the corner gas store will also give away their goods and services.

There was a time when free bid trips were coming into the discussion.
I told one national that the day they tried that on me was the day I quit.
The guy acted like he wasn't able to comprehend what I was saying.
I know he was smarter than that, you don't get to be an upper level manager at a big company by being an idiot.
I think he was counting on me being an idiot.

Any way I told him that the reason I was not doing free bid trips was because 1 he never approved any work for me and 2 when I pulled up to the corner gas station
and told them I wasn't going to pay them for gas because I was doing his free bid trips that they wouldn't see the humor in that and would call the cops.
I told him it don't work like this, he acted stupid again like he couldn't figure it out.
I told him to have a nice life .............. with out me.

Professionals are people who can do their job when they don't feel like it.
Amateurs are people that can't do their job even when they do feel like it.

Sounds like the "guy", having no equipment, was in a different field altogether beforehand. He can afford to drop 75k to jump into mortgage field services, curious what it was he used to do.

Tell your buddy I'll give him $0.25 on the dollar for that trailer in 6 months when he's forced to sell it to stay in business.
