Recalled Dehumidifiers

I know this has been discussed but I am processing my first case of a house that burned from a recalled dehu. Those thing do cause fires.

State Fire Marshall declared that it was the dehu that overheated.

So did the dehu itself ignite or did it ignite debris/belongings surrounding it?

If nationals would pay decent money with dehumidifiers then vendors will install decent units and this would probably not happen. Just saying. They get what they pay for

P3,

The dehu overheated and caused the fire. The pic wasn't to good since we couldn't enter the room till after the Fire Marshall and a Fire Investigator completed their reports.

The recalled dehumidifiers have been around for a long time, and the way they disappear and get repurposed in other properties, I expect this is more than a short term issue.

Exactly. This.

Kind of like one of the realtors here wanted to know why all of the foreclosures had cheap door locks on them. Same scenario.
