Yet again.... I hate people

Yup... I hate them all (present company excluded of course )

So last night in the middle of the Blackhawks game a realtor we work for asked if we could drive out and change the locks and check out a property that had been broken into.
We do a TON of work for him so of course we will go out there.
We get there at 8pm Its still light out, its a tiny house on the river with a tiny lot. ( I can touch the walls between the houses just by barely reaching)
Hubby walks up to the door... Someone has broken the knobs off and tried to pry the deadbolt.
Eh whatever a nice fat check and 30 minutes for all the doors and we can still see the game.
Mr Wonderful Neighbor comes BARRELING out and starts bellowing at the top of his lungs that we are making too much noise and we are trasspassing on the property and actually chest bumps hubby..
Hubby (bless his heart) looks at him and says look bud, the house was broken into and the realtor and the bank who owns it needs to have it secured we'll be out in 30 minutes.
Nope more screaming more hollering So I grab my phone and call the police.. He sees this and tells me not to bother he already did and hes gonna laugh as we go to jail..
Yeah ok sweetcakes I continue my call so they can hear this guy making an ass of himself.
So........ I think every cop in this little town showed up... Im standing in the street with the paperwork and Hubby is still changing the locks so we can get the hell outta dodge ( I mean really Im missing hockey for his crap??)
lots more yelling and interrupting from Mr Wonderful and once he refers to me as the "thieving c&nt" oddly HE was to one placed in the back of the car to "keep me safe"
We changed our locks took our pictures joked with the officers cheered the Hawks and today I collected a $300 check..
All Mr Wonderful got was a sore throat from yelling and a spike in his blood pressure.
But yup I still hate people...

I'm not a good example of how to deal with neighbors. I'm about 10 years past that "customer is always right" and "if they aren't a customer now they might be someday" thing. I can be blunt. My guys are much better than I am. But it is a regular repeat every week; on a job site and here they come.

"Who owns this property?" "Are you buying it?" "When are they going to (fill in the blank) _____?"
Us- "Don't know a thing about it. Call the number on the window."
Then part two starts.
Usually it is the complaints about (fill in the blank) _____________.
Us- "Yeah, sounds like you ought to call the number in the window."
That last about time for them to suck another breathe and go at it again.
That's about when we are thinking "Why are we listening to this guff and not getting paid for it?"
Part three starts as we stop standing there and continue with whatever we are doing.
"I want you to make sure when you get done with the mowing to clear the trash out from those bushes. And there is a hornets' nest in back right next to my fence. And that sweet gum tree is dropping those balls all over the yard and they are ending up over here. You need to cut that thing down today."
I had a sub give my business card to the woman and told her he wasn't authorized to do all of the work she wanted, and that she would have to call my office to get the work order updated with her billing information. That one I laughed about.
The truth is, folks like to complain about what dumps they live next to and how bad the property values are dropping, but they can't get off the zero gravity and help themselves out a little. Don't like the trash? Pick it up. Cut the weeds. Put a brick in front of the storm door.
I'm giving away my age.

Good grief, were you sitting in my hip pocket today? The only one you missed was, "Will you spray the yard? Those weeds keep growing over into mine". I don't hate them all...just most of them.

I believe in diversifying my business so I don't lose the farm if something goes south. That said, I do process service, inspections, P&P, and repossessions. I hate just about everyone I meet. I think it is just the nature of the business. I never had a great outlook on mankindto begin with, but the more I diversify, the more I hate people... I feel your pain. Go Hawks!

There are people who are alive today simply because it is illegal for me to kill them.

$300.00 not to have to sit through a hockey game? Sign me up. I usually don't watch hockey for free.
