What came first?

So I'm still up in the air about something... I've been getting A LOT of bid approvals for bids that were not mine to start with. Besides the numbers being truly ridiculous, it is also pretty depressing that I have to turn them all down because I will not pay someone to do their job just to say I'm working by accepting something bid by a complete hack. Or is the office taking upwards of 60% in the hopes that I just might be dumb enough? So as I meander my way to the next property I wonder what came first.... The hack or the 60%?

The hack has been around since Adam and Eve built the first house and installed a walk in shower. Greed came along just a little before that. Genesis 3 I think...

Other peoples bids can be several things-

poorly written, vague estimate that got kicked back and reduced and the sub didn't stay in business long enough to get it.

department heads that hover the cubicles reviewing bids looking to squeeze more blood from the turnips.

a few that I know of where the national just pulled numbers out of their tooter and said "Here, need this one knocked out asap. Industry standard and all so get on it."

You already know, it isn't your bid and it isn't your baby and it isn't your responsibility.

They don't care if they screw you by accident

or if it's part of the plan, both work out OK for them.

As long as they can get it covered. Not my bids... Not my numbers... Not my problem if some hacks math skills aren't profitable for me. I often find myself saying... " well, on to the next. " with a few re-cuts in between. Lol
