reading cragslist adds today.

1st one.

1. We will load and dispose of 3 yards of junk, equivalent to 1 pick up truck load for only $70.00

2. Prices starting at $185.00 for 3 cubic yards

3.It is a lot of garbage junk to removal or
Property to cleanup,
Call us reasonable praces and on site starting at $40.00

4. Stuff sitting around that u can't get in the trash can, or just did a remodel and don't want to get a dumpster. I'll pick it up for 100$ plus 25$ for the dump fee. minim of 4 yards

So these are just some of the post i just copy and pasted from cragslist today.. Good god!!! im just going to go on welfare 4 yards for 100? 3 yards for 70?

I dont know who would hire people in a beat up dodge.. But its getting worst and worst in my area.

What do your craiglist adds look like?

THis is 4 different business, the only one that seems legit is #2. #1,3 and 4 i have no clue!

Minimum 4 yds for $100?-Does that mean I get 10 yds for the same price? I'm calling these guys and going after Safeguard trashouts on Monday!

background check, all the right insurance and licensing. Honestly I got some guys like that to take some debris a time or two. I was stressing out the whole time, thinking of the liability.

Early on we had a property that was a heaping pile of trash with a roof underneath. Had a couple guys in a little ranger stop by that morning and offer to take our mattresses and some tires for $40. Ok, my foreman says and paid them. Took 7 mattresses and 11 tires. Seemed like a good deal until code enforcement stopped by late that afternoon and asked us if we flydumped a bunch of trash at an empty house across town. I don't think CL was around then but the bottomfeeders were, just laying in waiting.

When I was doing trashouts I had a landlord on speed dial with several "furnished" units. He loved getting my phone call, he always seemed to walk away with a free dresser, table, bed, lamps or whatever he could use. I was doing set price under 40 cubes so debris count on my trailer didn't matter and in the end he saved a lot of money in dump fees.

Had an FAS recruiter tell me once $20 per cyd was good money. He also fancied himself a preservation coach. Enjoyed telling contractors everything he knew about bleach, kilz, how to tarp a gable, how to write a bid, etc. The guy said he wouldn't be too proud to work for that rate. It was more than a fair deal.
I said "Good for you then. I'm hiring this week and I'll be happy to put you on for FAS rates minus discount." I'd bring that up everytime he would call.

Had a safeguard QC expert lecture me on housekeeping at a house that was later bulldozed. Dust on the top of the water heater, cobwebs in the cellar floor joists, beer tabs under the porch, etc. I mentioned what I paid my lead maintenance man and his eyes widened. "I'd work for that if I didn't live so far away." I told him if I hired him the first job I'd give him would be the QC job at the house we were at.
When I passed 35 I became an sob. Kind of like, if I'm going to get the speeding ticket anyway, I'll get my monies worth.

I remember a home builder/developer telling me once, "How is it a guy working as a building inspector making 30k a year can command and control a job site run by a guy making 10 x that?"
