Property Preservation Company

I have been in the P&P business under a subcontractor for going on 3 years now. I am looking to start my own now. I got set up with five brothers because thats where the guy i worked with worked through. Going on 2 weeks now all i have recieved is a 2nd bid. Is this normal? Are there any other better companies to work for with possibly a faster work rate? Or a better place to start?

Are you working in the same area that you were subbing? If the guy your working with knows you did this I doubt he will play nice, especially it being 5 BROS. Tread lightly young contractor, treaty lightly.

Nationals have no loyalty nor are they obligated to use anyone on a regular basis. Your old boss may have been getting work everyday until his rep got reassigned and then it is a quarter and a cup of coffee.

Ask someone who has been in the industry 5+ years as opposed to an FNG the answers will be night and day generally.

There are plenty of good companies to work for if you know what you are doing. There is already a ton of info on here on each of them; you should use the search button. You'll have to prove to them why they should take work away from an established contractor and take a risk by assigning it to you.

This industry can be good if you know what you're doing. Most FNG's don't. Even with some of the Bs you need to put up with. Now I did say the industry can be good. I didn't say great. IMHO. It's hard to stay up to date with the new ways the banks or services are trying to screw the contractors. Thank God for this forum and the seasoned vets on here. They've helped me out tons.

From this forum I've picked up 2 clients, 100's of tips on Pp, Insurance and stand up comedy.

In my book there is only 1 good company.....YOURS!

There really is no "good" P&P companies- substandard at best. Market YOURSELF to Your skillsets. P&P comprises of changing lock (get trained and be a locksmith), maid services/janitorial (buy a mop and broom and open your own cleaning company), Trashouts (think 800-GotJunk anyone can do on their own), grasscuts (buy some good equipment and market landscaping), inspections (heck the pay $6-10 BUT if you go get your ASHI designation the private market pays $300-400)....

I can go on and on and on.

Remember that P&P is NOT a business (sorry guys/gals) since YOU have little or no control over your DESTINY. Now go forth and prosper!
