Unhappy Hello from Michigan

Hi everyone,
I'm so glad I have found this forum. I would just like to thank you all for the free information and advice you hand out. I paid $200 for information on starting this up. It is all roses and money flying at you on his website, but I think he is obviously just trying to sell his get rich quick scheme now that he is no longer making big money in P&P. I have been doing trash-outs for a contractor for six months, I like the work so decided to open up shop doing this for a living.
Now that my husband and I have our insurance ect., I am having a very hard time finding work. Everyone tells me they have enough vendors in my area.
I did find one company who is hiring, but they want to pay $10/cu yard and they want you to compact it. It costs $14/cu yard to dump! I hope I didn't waste my money getting all my supplies. I am pretty green but I have the ambition, just need to catch my break.
Please tell me most of you get more than $10/ cu yard!

Wecome aboard There are few Michigander's that frequent here and might have advice directly about your location.

There can be money made but it isn't all roses and its definitely not a "get rich quick scheme".

I would hazard a guess that 99+ % of us here won't touch debris for $10 /CYD. That is a money losing proposition unless you get a trashout at a casino or maybe Fort Knox.

Thank you!

We were covering certain areas of Genesee county, but we have already decided to cover all of Genesee county to help increase our chances of finding work.

You might have a better chance of getting some contracts if you cover a larger area. Most don't want a single city contractor

Thank you.
Genesee county covers Flint, Argentine, Grand Blanc, Fenton, Gaines, Linden, Holly, Goodrich, Davison, Burton, Clio, Montrose, Mt. Morris, Otisville, Richfield, Swartz Creek, Vienna and Thetford.

It is an area of 649.34 squaremiles, do you think we need to go further? I don't think the two of us could feasibly do that and meet deadlines, so I hope not.

Im in Michigan as well and i can tell you that genesee county is overpopulated with these contractors i live in genesee county and my buddy has 400 properties in genesee county and then i find out there is a company that went directly to fannie mae and is doing grass cuts for $25 bucks a cut and they are from Mount Pleasant. Ive found in Michigan if you want to do work you need to cover more than one county i cover 8 counties as of now.
