My name says it all
I own and run a family GC company. We've been in business for 9 years, started some PP 5 years ago but got into it more about 2 years ago when a national called us to do a complete gut and remodel because none of their vendors were "real contractors". Still don't understand that as the requirements seem to demand it. I chose my name because I 1- live in Minnesota and I 2- feel like a nanny. I spend all week working hard educating and babying the phone and email children that work for the nationals, instructing them on the use and function of sump pumps and a myriad of other esoteric items only to be spanked and sent home without pay by their "parents" when they deign to speak to me. I'm lucky I've never had to pay my replacement like many have...
I don't work for any regionals and I haven't gotten screwed yet like many here have, but I have fought my share of bid reductions and no charge orders. I have been asked (make that told) to take the NAMFS test at my expense. I'm not going to. We'll see how that goes.
I enjoy reading everyone's comments and look forward to being able to Thumbs Up the ones I particularly agree with...
