Hello From Delaware

Hello everyone,

My name is Brandon and I wanted to introduce myself to the group. I wanted to thank everyone who contributes to this forum it has helped me watch where I tread so to speak. Now I know that a lot of you guys and gals have a ton more experience in this field than I do I spend countless hours trying to educate myself further. Other than Property Preservation and REO work my Father owns a well established landscape company in Delaware and I have been helping him run his business for as long as I can remember. I got into this type of work a few years ago when a company called me after seeing an ad I had posted for residential lawn care. The gentleman who contacted me asked if I provided any other services other than lawn care and I replied by telling him that I am interested in doing anything I can make money in. Granted this was the slow time of the year for us he asked me to provide a bid for a trash removal. I agreed to take a look and ended up providing his company with a bid. In return the bid was approved and I completed my first trash removal job. I bid $1400 on the job rented a dumpster for around $500 and pocketed the rest as profit. My eyes were filled with joy and I instantly started researching more companies to work for. I found a company that most of you are probably familiar with (AMS) signed up and received a good amount of work. Started to get asked if I could cover more of the state and I agreed. The workload for a two man crew got a little intense so I hired two sub contractors to pick up the extra load that was given to me. Needless to say only one contractor ended up working out and he provided service for me for almost two years until AMS was bought out by MCS. This happened and I was not prepared and I pretty much took a turn for the worse. Granted this was a mistake on my end solely relying on one company I wasn't able to make ends meet. With no one to blame other than myself I have decided to educate myself as much as possible and dedicate myself to my business once again. With that said I am happy to be a part of this community and hope to meet a lot of others who can share their experiences with the smaller guys like me.

Welcome to PT Brandon.
Nice introduction - Encouraging to hear from people like yourself that can see where they might have made a mistake & then learn from it. Experiences like yours help a lot of sincere people looking to get started in any new venture.
Hang out, look around & don't take anyone too serious! In the end, maybe you'll be able to take a thing or three from here that'll help your business out too.
Good luck!

Iíve already told you more than I know.
