Another insurance question!

I realize that in order to be a high volume statewide contracted vendor for a large national doing inspections, GL insurance is a must. But do or will these nationals (MCS, Altisource, ServiceLink ) also REQUIRE that the actual inspector carry their own policy? Some recruiters are saying its required and others are not. When I asked an Altisource vendor if we were free to buy from any company we chose I was told YES.

Normally wouldnt the inspector automatically be covered under the persons insurance they receive the assignments from? Screw up bad enough to warrant a claim and you just wont have work anymore lol!

It is typical for a sub contractor to be required to have their own insurance, it is not typical for an employee to have to carry their own insurance, nationals like to pick and choose if you are treated like an employee or a sub contractor based on what best suits them at the moment.

If you are required to purchase from "approved" insurance companies, find someone else to work for
