Billboard advertising, can it improve business?

I'm thinking of renting a billboard for a month to try to target more Realtor and private investors. I really want to do more work through them instead of SG and other regionals I currently work with. My question is, have you ever tried it and what was the outcome of it? I was looking into pricing and it's a bit hefty but I think it can be worth it. Price for a medium billboard starts at $1500 per month. I currently already advertise in several city newspapers. Plus any advertising expenses I can write off at the end of the year. I would be hoping to at least get my money back for it...... so what do y'all think?

Not effective for such a niche group of customers in my opinion. You would be better off spending $100 on 15 hand picked realtors to send them some swag.

I live in fresno county and just in fresno alone there are probably 1000s of Realtors... and it wouldnt just be for them but for investors as well. Population of Fresno alone is over 1,000,000 not including the surrounding cities. Idk it was just an idea....

I'm not a realtor, but I played one on t.v.

Here is what I'd do if I were trying to delve deeper into that market.

Pretty much every sizeable realty office holds weekly or monthly meetings. That will be your time to shine. Find out the time of their meetings (typically sales guru crap), show up armed with several dozen donuts, cookies, or memorabilia. Make sure you are armed with marketing material (biz cards), ask politely to give a very very brief sales pitch of the services you offer (don't kill them with details).
Put your best foot forward in this 90 second sales pitch. Offer services that any person looking to sell or buy a home would need (right in line with your current business model). Pass out your business card, and lastly the most important thing.
Offer an incentive for them to give your name out. Be creative with it, even if you lose a bit of $ on the deal it will be worth it. Remember, all it takes is 1 happy realtor/broker and it can snowball FAST. Word spreads.
The target isn't the realtor, or even the broker for that matter. It's the INVESTOR, that is where you want the sweet spot to be.
Always under promise, and over deliver.
