Got an interview for Consol Energy next week being an Engineer for all their new Shale natural gas drilling projects. Salary is Not as Much as i made the past couple years but , company truck, gas card, 3 weeks vaca, health benfits and 9-5!!!! While being a business owner is nice but i think this ship has flown, I was able to gross nearly 250k for the past 2 years just on BACFS and 2 1/2 employees, after running the safeguard numbers and the increased office time and BS demands it just doesn't seem worth it. Mabey i was spoiled by $250 grass cuts that are now $75. It just seems like the headaches increase while paychecks decrease. I told my guys whats going on and giving them the option to run the AMS and 5br orders (no more SG) and see if they can handle all the administration stuff. and slowly transfer the business over to them, they seem excited but they don't quite know what they're in for.

Is the SG volume really that much that you can't work with other companies and stay comfortable?

Not to speak for him, but it may not be volume. Processing work orders for Safeguard eats up a HUGE amount of time in comparison to every other field service I have ever encountered. Unless you're doing it you really won't get the amount of time it eats up.
Hearing about this time sink from guys here is one of the reasons I have never worked for them.

I love volume i had 250 gc over 4 counties when i worked for BACFS and about 1/3 of them were large bid approval recuts. but since safeguard took over it just isn't worth it with their prices if it pays right you can always hire more guys/subs. But its just not work it to send a crew a guys of all day long then spend 4 hours uploading photos just to make $100 profit off of their low prices grasscuts, and then probably get charged back for some 3% of the time for
B.S. reasons.

you noticed an increasing share of a decreasing market and made a business choice which in my opinion was a good one.. you are taking care of your guys by training them in the office end and giving them a " shot " also very very commendable

Best of luck and godspeed and like splint said ," dont frack it up "

Congrats. If you really like your guys, I would try to get them to NOT get started in this so late in the game. But its all good.

ontime is right. We actually had a game in house on wether or not anyone could get through closing a SG order without an "error" message, a failed cert, or some other nonsense. It could literally take a person 1 1/2 hour to close a job in their system.

Simply not worth it. Even small "easy" things, needed 10-15 minutes. No way. We said goodbye for good. They call us weekly, and once we bent because they caved on pricing. We regreted it immediately, closed the WO, and then told them no more. I can't support them even if it benefits us, I simply think they are immoral.
