I started doing grass cuts for REI this season as they have taken on the Wells Fargo account for New York. I started in early April with Initial Grass Cuts and have done 3 rounds of recurring cuts on about 50 Work Orders spread out over most of western central NY (finger lakes region). I have not been paid anything yet and have been given every excuse under the sun for the non payment. Finally they decide to throw the contract and stipulate that their "payment within 7 days" only applies to work orders that they have been paid by Wells Fargo and that there is "no set time" to receive those monies. They also zeroed out several invoices saying that they were categorized wrong and would not pay them. I thought Safeguard was bad, but at least they always paid and paid weekly. Anyone in NY that works with REI, I would love to hear your experiences and see if mine is just a fluke or if they are consistent with screwing their vendors.

We also worked with REI for Wells Fargo in Georgia, and ran into the same issues. We followed their guidelines, but they gave us every excuse in the book as to why they would not pay on a property. We also had 4 different account representatives within a matter of 6 weeks. We finally decided to terminate our contract.

Noticed you're new here. Where are you located?
Rochester, NY and to update... still no real money, they sent me $100 last week, terminated my contract and say they are going to hold $1000.00 they still I’ve me $14685.00 according to their report but the have zeroed out about $2000.00 in invoices from the initial cuts in April. Gryphon has now taken over those work orders I had in NY.

I went to the NYS Attorney Generals office and the investigator I spoke to is looking into the matter, she feels that there is some fraud going on on REI’s part and would not elaborate but did mention that I am not the only NY contractor to contact their office about this issue.

If you were completing SPECTRUM work orders, I am sorry to tell you nobody is getting paid. I know a cpl of people already 27 k and up behind for 3 months already. When they sent the memo regarding price change , everyone was suppose to sign NOT. but a lot of people kept going and completing work. Now good luck getting tha money.

The problem with this company is they are growing to fast and too fast is not good. BUT THE MAIN PROBLEM IS THEIR 20 MAX PHOTOS PR GRASS CUT. that's going to bite them later from wells with charge backs for not having every angle photo requirements, but hey it is what it is. I never work for them but a friend of mine does, I told him already to close the account and keep moving.

They actually threatened to fine contractors $10 per order for “excessive photos” more than 15 Photos per order.

Can you imagine ??? 1 photo front view, 1 photo street sign, 1 photo address number, that leaves 12 photos. 4 before, 4 during and 4 after. BUT YOU HAVE (weed eater, mower, edger, blower) . There is not way you can split 12 photos into 4 different task and get every angle of the property.

CONCLUSION ROWE ENTERPRISES = NEW GRECO OF THE INDUSTRY. if you smart take 40 to 50 photos and save them just in case when they get the charge backs you have additional photos.
