I'd tell the client to _____ in one hand and wish in the other, see which one fills up first.

The price for install is X, it doesn't matter what you WANT to pay for them.

Or tell them to mail you a couple units and when they arrive you'll be happy to install them for $29.
The reason clients have gotten so low is that the hacks take what ever is thrown at them and roll with it.
No body has stood up for themselves when the banks and nats have cut the prices.

If you think about it the prices going down is insane......... inflation has drove every thing UP the last few years and yet the pay for work performed and for installing things like C O detectors has gone down.

In some states C O alarms are state law.

CO for example after a high profile C O caused death made it state law that any time any residence changed hands it had to have a C O detector installed as long as there was ANY type of C O producing method in the house.

Gas fire place, gas water heater, gas range, attached garage etc.

Even rentals when they were re-rented to new tenants............. install C O detectors.

State law.

re

$5,000, really?
That is over 350 alarms!
Do you haul those in the Jetta? Or the Rodeo?

Got rid of the rodeo, decided to go all diesel about a year ago when I realized that it had sat for like 3 months without being driven. I like to open them up and put them in 20 gallon rubbermaids I can get about 100 in a rubbermaid and the batteries in an ice cream pail. I started doing this when I realized that 90% of my time to install one was spent trying to get them out of those bullet proof packages. I tried to find a place that will sell them unwrapped in a case pack but had no luck.

Also I don't use the jetta for pres work, its all the golf or the passat. (wife got pissed when I would bring it back with a funk to it.)

Where is that, I saw them for that price once about a year and a half ago but not since. Best was when they had 2 packs of smokes for $4 a couple times in 2011 I went around and cleaned out 7 or 8 menards in the area.
That's a good price for smokes. I got them at the altoona, ia menards. A whole bunch of their detectors are thirty percent off through Sunday
