Showed up at a home to rekey it for one of my brokers tonight. Right behind me pulls in a truck from Idaho. Call them company C. They where hired by a guy out of Idaho to bid the roof replacement. Call the guy out of Idaho company B. The guy out of Idaho was hired by the Sam's Vendor for Montana. Call the Sam's vendor company A. Y'all following??
Anyways, These guys, Company C, are father and son. Father in late 50's all broken down (told me he had 2 slipped discs) and late 20's kid. Company B gives them a truck and gas card. Both where exited to talk. They said there "boss" Company B told them that he couldn't get any dependable help here in Montana. I think to myself, Company B can't find any CHEAP help here. They tell me they get $20 a SQ to shingle a house and they split it! WOW!! Great money i say!
I ask them if the "boss" pays for a hotel. "Nah, We just stay in the homes where working on!" This is what this industry is coming too! The Sam's vendor is likely getting $150-$160 a sq. giving company B about $130 and Company B is likely paying around $80 - $90 for materials per sq. Company B is paying these guys CASH TO BOOT per the father because he is disabled because of his back!!!!!!!
I know where they are roofing currently and it is a split level. I'll bet anything they are not tied off properly per OSHA regs. Hell they where wearing Tennis Shoes!! I might drive by tomorrow just to look...............
