I just bought 69 knoblocks and deadbolts and 8 long shackle 50mm padlocks for $225 from a Safeguard vendor who was on his way to the government cheese line!

I feel real bad.

No, this was the other SG vendor.

The creepy little peacock in question almost died of natural causes.
I was going to pull its head off of its creepy little neck!
It would have died, naturally.

Government cheese is kind of like the new pay rates that keep getting thrown around here. The taste isn't so bad if you think that's all there is.

Why is someone losing all their work and income such good news? It could happen to anyone of us here.
OK, let me draw a picture for y'all:

This particular vendor is a friend of mine, and was long before either of us got into preservation work. He came to the P&P party about 4 years after I did as a result of an invitation by SG. First thing he did was call me & ask what I thought of doing work for the likes of SG around here. I proceeded to relate to him the pitfalls and rewards of working for national companies, and he decided to give them a shot. Six months later he calls & says he is done. Told me he had landed a custom home building contract and that it was time to get out. He then stated that even if the other work hadn't materialized, he would have not lasted much longer anyway, that P&P work for SG consumed his life and reimbursed him little in return.

I don't know why you assume that I or others rejoice or even consider it in some way good when someone losses their livelihood (maybe it makes you feel better somewhere deep down inside to point out what you perceive as faults in others, I don't know). Fact is, I purchased material from a vendor that was on his way to becoming another victim of this industry, but realized it soon enough to rescue himself. He lost neither all his work nor income, that was entirely your fabrication.

Another fact is this: I do not feel bad for purchasing what he was selling as he rescued himself from the road to bankruptcy (or the government cheese line).

WOW!

Get your panties out of a bunch and put away your psych book.
I based my comment on your original statement and nothing more. Here, let me refresh your memory of what you first posted.

Nowhere did it mention that it was a friend or not, nowhere did it explain that although his time in the P&P industry was short lived and ended quickly he had landed a much brighter and more lucrative gig, and nowhere did it say you were only happy with your bargain deal and not the fact this poor smuck was headed for the cheese line. So no I don’t have any deep down issues or enjoy pointing out fault with you. I just made a simple observation and subsequent statement based on the information or should I say lack of information you provided in your original post. With that being said I have to jump on over to MFS Supply and put my order in for the week at full price!
Cheers

Nice use of colors and fonts!
And thanks for the reminder, too (There is a psychology statement in that too, but I can't seem to find my book right now).

BTW, here is what you said:

You are right, I did not mention those details about my transaction that I elaborated on in my second post in my original post. Didn't even think about it as I made the 1st post. My bad, in retrospect. FYI, there are more details that I didn't include in the first or second posts.

The problem with writing in an Internet forum is that ones words are put out there with a total lack of tone of voice, facial expression, gestures, etc. that would help qualify a statement. Some then read that statement, others read into that statement.

And even though a forum post is a hard place to convey feeling, it is an even worse place to draw inference. . .:whistling2:

Really no harm done. There usually always is more to a story, however it's probably not any of my business anyways.

I couldn't agree more. Not sure I read into your original statement or not as it was quite short and not much to read into, however I have been both the victim and been guilty of reading into statements. So again I agree.
I don't believe any harm has been done and don't see where any feelings that have been hurt that won't heal. I mean really if our skin is thick enough to handle what the Nats throw at us, what could a misunderstanding in a public forum do?

My brother and I worked for Safeguard until he said to them" I spend more time trying to figure out how to screw you out of what you screwed me out of". That pretty much ended our relationship. Never work for them again.

That's part of my written company policy! Although it really costs me no real time to accomplish. Take a dollar from me and it'll cost you $10!
