I'm an owner/operator of a lawn care, snow removal and some P&P company in SE WY.

Started doing P&P in 09. By 10 had picked up a very small handful of local lawn customers. Long before the end of 10 I could see the writing on the wall as it relates to P&P and began to position my company towards lawn care.
11 was a much better year for local customers and by the end of 11 my company had nailed down some good grounds maint contracts.
12 looks to be the best year I've ever had in any business. Currently my company does very little in the way of P&P.

Prior to 09 I had a lawn business from 96 thru 02. I sold that and drove truck for 7 years. In the late 90s I did some P&P that was much different than today. Then we got our W/Os by fax, used 35mm film with over night mail back to the regional. They would develop the photos via 1 hr development and then QC every thing and send it on to their client. Life was much different then and much more simple.

How was this winter? Did you get enough snow removal? We had like two actual snow storms this year and neither amounted to much in the way of removal.

By the hour is the fairest way for all involved.

Flat rate some one will end up feeling screwed. Either the customer or the contractor.
