Hi, I wanted to reach out to all my preservation pros. I took a training online about 3 yrs ago and landed an account with FAFS and Five Bros. I was with them from 2007-2009! I made great money First 2 yrs but after it went down hill;(! And i closed business. Banks made to many % discounts, charge backs n overhead was a killer! Not even considering all the time one road. So why do peep keep saying this is the business to be in. They say its not a girl biz but i did it fine for 2 yrs. i have been out for 2 years, but a field service comp contacted me , and I said I'm not offering services . I have a thorn n my skin telling me to go back into this business but my instinct says no! What are ur opinions please be respectful!

Go to the main forum page, click on "specialty trades" towards the bottom, than click on "property perseveration".

You'll get a MUCH better response there by the pros. A mod may move this there anyway. I'd link for you but I'm mobile.

Good luck!!!

I find myself confronted with a similiar situation, in that workload is extremely slow right now. Coincidentally, its around the same time my GL policy is up for renewal. Since any equipment I bought for this biz is already bought and paid for years ago, and can be used for personal stuff in the future, insurance the biggest factor for me to consider when deciding to continue on or throw in the towell. I'd suggest you factor in the incurred expense of insurance to help decide if its worthwhile to get back in.

PP & REO.... very slow right now... Went to do an initial and they want me to bid a Wet Wintz...lol. I told the gal over the phone... $250 less discount. She put me on hold for 15 min and came back an said bid it....GEEZ its tough makin a buck today.

Banks must holding on to their cash...so in-turn, the Nationals are beatin there heads on how to keep there doors open...so let's beat up the contractors an see if there ar any charge back we can do..."Audit you accounts an find me some money"...

Time to call local Code Officers and Blight Officials...
