This thread

http://www.contractortalk.com/f22/contractor-shoots-burgler-103151/

makes me wonder what interesting stories you have regarding PP and confronting looters, illegal occupants, that happen to be there when you show up.

I responded in this thread with my own general opinion of how dangerous this job could potentially be from helping a friend in some dangerous areas of Chicago with his PP work.

I just thought this might make for an interesting topic. (BTW-be safe out there)

1) guns pointed at me.
2) occupants wanting to fight with me.
3) rocks thrown at me.
4) one of my guys had rotten food flung at them.
5) attacked by dogs.
6) showed up at a illegal alien drop house with over 100 people inside of it.
7) crack house in which the tubs was full of feces in trash bags. drug needles all over the floor.
8) punched in the jaw.
9) offered "favors" to not go through with my work order.
10) the mortgagors sent their 3 and 4 year old kids over to ask me why I won't them live in their house anymore.
11) walked in on people doing it.

I've got many more. it's always interesting. I just went to one a few days ago in a remote area in which the owner showed up and said he filed a chapter 7 and that they're protected by the BK stay and I had better not touched anything or removed anything otherwise he will sue my pants off. he was irate and looked like he was ready to start something. I just advised him that I am just doing a work order and I am sorry if I upset you, I will leave as you wish. and left. didnt even ask for the attorneys information or confirm his ID. I had a feeling I would have been in trouble if I asked for those things. he followed me to my next job and kept carrying on about some nonsense. I advised him he was tresspassing on the property I was working on and he had better leave before he makes a bad situation worse. he then told me, you mexicans are taking all of our jobs. I said, I'm not mexican. I'm a polynesian and I'll take whatever OPPORTUNITY I want in this country because I am an american. he then saw the 2 white boys that work with me pull up and call me boss. I had let him know I am just doing what I am paid to do. I am not here to cause him any grief unless he causes problems.

1) threatened to be shot (several times, I now carry a .40cal with me at all times)
2) assaulted by property owner (once)
3) woke up a crack whore sleeping in a house
4) numerous times had LEO's called to property, never been handcuffed. (it's all about attitude when LEO shows up. Be happy they are there, means the neighborhood is watching after the property)
5) had to run from dogs. (learned quickly to "shake the gate")
6) flop house in which the tub was full of feces. (told employer I was not qualified for HazMat removal. God that was a mess)
7) opened a fridge and came as close to puking as I ever had over a smell. (had to go outside, find a hand towel and spray it with air freshener so I could go back in)
8) was once paid $300 to clean a toilet in a condemned house (I swear it's true, I even tried to get out of the job by telling the client it was a condemned building)
9) moved 60 cyds of debris - from inside a mobile home- took the better part of three days. two rooms were so filled with debris the doors wouldn't open. Had to go in through windows.
10) came upon a marijuana grow house. called local sheriff and THEY cleaned out the house lol.

And lots more stories that I'm sure every one of us could tell about entering occupied houses and minor confrontations with home owners.
